Drawtism 2013 -
Pictionary is back and it’s raising funds for Autism
To mark World Autism Awareness Day in April, we are challenging people to host their own Pictionary game to help raise funds and awareness of Autism.
Now in it's seventh year, Drawtism gives people a chance to get together, be creative and help draw people with Autism out of their isolation. Sponsors Mattel have teamed with Australian charities that support those on the Autism Spectrum and they too encourage you to be a part of this important campaign.
Playing Pictionary provides participants with a glimpse of the daily challenges experienced by people living with Autism. The frustration experienced while attempting to make a drawing understood by others is similar to the frustration experienced by many on the Autism Spectrum.
Alpha Autism developed the Drawtism concept in an effort to combine fun with meaningful fundraising. Like Alpha’s client programs, playing drawtism® encourages participation, teamwork, creativity and inclusion; drawing people out of isolation and helping them stay connected.

I understand the whole point of it all was not only to feel the frustration, but to feel the relief and validation when someone (maybe a stranger) understands and captures your attempt to articulate. That’s a powerful thing!”
